What to Know About SI 2025
This year Summer Institute will be held at Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH. Some have attended here in the past, but for some it’s a new location. Here are some differences to remember:
- Dorms: Oberlin provides traditional dorm rooms, either with Air Conditioning or without it. There should be enough rooms with AC for most of our attendees, and all dorm lounges are air conditioned, even in the Non-AC Dorms.
- Bathrooms:Oberlin dorms are equipped with shared bathrooms in each dorm wing. Multi-Stall bathrooms will be designated “Women” or “Men” in accordance with Ohio law, and single-user bathrooms will be designated “All Gender.” A campus map with the location of every “All Gender” bathroom will be available for participants. Note: Ohio bathroom law allows anonymous reporting, and we cannot change multi-stall bathrooms to “All Gender.”
- Navigation: Oberlin campus is flat and the town is across the street, the hospital is on the corner of campus. Things will be much closer than they were at PennWest. Campus is a 30 minute drive from the Cleveland airport and a 45 minute drive from the Amtrak station.
- Masking will be required in spaces where our entire community gathers: In the First Church Sanctuary and the dining hall (when not eating), and in smaller indoor spaces with anyone wearing a red lanyard/who requests that others mask.
